This past weekend (Jan 28) was SciFi Expo held in Plano, TX. Having gone to last year’s, 2011′s is actually a few months earlier than 2010′s but I think it is because of the actor’s schedules maybe? Now who are we working around… oh yes… TRICIA HELFER, KATEE SACKHOFF, MORENA BACCARIN, ALAINA HUFFMAN, ERIN GRAY AND NICHELLE NICHOLS. The theme was “Women of SciFi”, but you guessed that already right?

JW (as Athena of BSG) and I (as a Vampire of Venice from DW) got there late, met up with Rebecca and Stacey (Vampire of Venice and Rose), hung out with Tim, and wandered the dealer room before heading to the Tricia and Katee panel.

It wasn’t as fun for myself as last year’s, mainly because I’m too broke from my Japan trip and not yet employed thus unable to purchase autographs.. yeah. Anyways, it was fun indeed hanging out with the girls and Tim though. Now if you’d been following my blog through the Japan trip, you’d know I have been searching for Danny Choo as the Dancing Storm Trooper in Shibuya but haven’t found him… so when Rebecca and I spotted a Storm Trooper at the con… well, I approached him and asked him to dance for me.  :D

Following are some clips I took of Tricia’s and Katee’s panel. They are even more gorgeous in person than they are onscreen and that is saying A LOT! They were witty, humorous, and real. I’m so glad I got to see them and SO GLAD that they came down to lil ole Plano, Texas to visit fans and spend time here. Also very happy that the weather was gorgeous and they wouldn’t have to hate Texas, haha!

Here are some Q&A and other tidbits that I remember and paraphrased because my memory is not perfect. If I have something on here incorrectly and y’all know/remember, please let me know and I’ll fix it. Watch the videos for more questions/answers not listed here.

Q: What are some crazy/scary fan experiences you have had?
A: *Katee laughs* (Gonna not tell it in first person because I REALLY don’t remember the exact wording) Basically, she was at a con and a person in a full on Chewbacca  suit came up to her and said “I love you.” She is taken aback and laughs nervously (?). Later she is in the restroom and there is that Chewbacca again and she just stares at that person, wondering if she has a psycho within arm’s distance (haha). She does’t know if it is a man or woman either… and the person says “I love you” yet again. HAHAHHAHA… it was a woman, she found out.
A: Tricia’s story is not scary per se but she was in Vancouver and they had just started/not yet (can’t remember, it was early on) filming BSG and she had on a BSG “crew” jacket on with the emblem and everything and was in the pet store when this man sees her and goes, “Oh, that’s a great show! Are you on the crew?” She answers yes, I’m an actor.. and then he peeks under her hat and freezes – then runs out of the store. She looks around and moves on to the next aisle, surprised of course, haha. He returned into the store, whispered “Sorry, didn’t mean to disturb you” and runs back out again. HAHAHAHHAHA…. wow. Yeah…

Q: During those resurrections, that goo that you are in the tub with, what was that like?
(Tricia) It was disgusting. Everytime she got out of it, people would have to run their hands up and down her to get the gunk out and by the end of filming, it’d be all over everybody. She told an interesting story of when they filmed the first resurrection scene – she and the director had an argument about it. The director wanted it to be peaceful and serene and she thought it should be loud and messy because aren’t all births like that, to which Katee interjects “Take that Scientology!” (or something to that effect). She also made the point that she first downloaded into her new body as she was protecting Baltar from the explosion and she was hit with glass, building pieces, etc and if your last memory was dying.. waking up from it the next instant wouldn’t be pretty. Sounds logical to me. And thye filmed it that way and it set the tone for future resurrections. Back to the goo - She had been resurrected a few times and the goo was all over – it is a heavy-ish consistency and ripped the $8,000 wig in half. (!!!) It was like a “tub of petroleum jelly she says… and Katee goes, “It’s like a aprty at Charlie Sheen’s!!” The crowd bursts into laughter and Katee mutters “My publicist is going to kill me…” HAHAH

Apparently Tricia has 10 cats and is a bit OCD with cleaning because Katee, who is allergic to cats, can’t even tell Tricia has ONE let alone TEN when she visits.

They both have done many voiceovers for video games.

They ride motorcycles – in fact, they had just participated in a cross country motorcycle tour?

There is a tall and a short hand-cameraman who follow the crew around and on some scenes, Katee would get onto her bunk and be “intimate” with Michael Trucco and she’d turn and there he is… one of the cameramen would be there right in bed with her. HAHAHA

The cast and crew are all like family.
